Marathons and Baby Tricks

School is getting crazier. I thought it would be fine going back to school but it is so hard to study with a mobile baby. You can't take your eyes off her for a second. Plus she is so entertaining. (Videos below for proof) The last two weeks have been filled with a lot of updates.

1) Half Marathon

Ryan and I have decided to run a Half Marathon in June. You might think we are crazy and I don't really care... :) We made our training schedules and even a diet plan. Last week was our first week. It's been pretty tough but in a good way.

We eat 5 small meals a day. 80% of those meals are raw. Our breakfast, lunch and snacks are all raw foods. (No raw meats I promise.) Lots of fruits, vegetables and nuts. Dinners are normal meals. Our main rule for dinner is no eating out or treats.

Ryan and I have different training schedules, because we have different goals. He wants to be a muscle man and I just want to be able to finish the race. I ran a total of 6 miles last week. The most I ran in one day was 2.5 miles. We have 30+ weeks until the Half and I know we can do it.

In one week I have already lost 5 pounds and feel so energized. I get more done during the day and I never have to take naps. Amazing what a good diet and exercise can do for you. Plus, I just have a higher self esteem. Not that I was depressed but I think you stay at home moms might know what I mean. I believe when you take care of yourself first it's alot easier to take care of everyone else.

2) Cloth Diapers?

Last Saturday I took a cloth diapering class with some ladies from the ward. It was very interesting. I learned alot.

The main reason I went was because Marley has her momma's eczema skin and gets diaper rash alot. I have heard that cloth diapers breathe better and that helps with the diaper rash.

We sewed our own cloth diapers, and I went home and tried it on Marley. The diapers are huge but they worked really well. No leaks for 4 hours.

Alot has changed with cloth diapers in the past few decades and they have come a long way. It's a great way to save LOTS of money and go green. So we are going to make the switch.

Merry Christmas Marley! You are getting cloth diapers!

Anyone out there use cloth diapers and have any advice for me? I'd love to hear it!

3) Marley can Whistle

Last week I kept hearing this strange high pitch sound. It took me a while to figure out Marley had learned how to whistle. She always thought it was so funny when we would whistle. Now she does it herself. Next time you see her, whistle and she'll do it back!

4) Keys

I have to be on the computer alot since I am a Digital Media Major. This cabinet happens to be right under the desk.

(Note the upside down laundry basket... It covers the cords so Marley can't get to them.)

Anyhow, Marley is pretty independent and can find her own way of entertaining herself.

In this video she figured out how to remove the keys from the keyhole and she was smart enough to know they needed to go back. She was doing this for over 20 minutes. Very funny! Now whenever I hand these keys to her she goes to the cabinet and tries to put them back.

And lastly...
5) Marley has sharp teeth

Today Marley bit my big toe. I was sitting on the couch. She was standing next to it, leaned over and bit my toe. Those two little teeth hurt. I yelped and she laughed. So naughty. Ryan thinks she thought it was a big piece of sausage.

Ryan ruined Christmas!

I found the perfect gag gift for Ryan for Christmas.

It's a face warmer. I figured since Ryan had recently parted from his beard, it could help him get through this tough time.

However, I had the webpage up on the computer when Ryan sneakily came home for lunch.
He came back to the kitchen informing me of the great find I had up.

That is how Ryan ruined Christmas...

for himself.

Now he's getting nothing.

Bah Hum Bug.

Weekly Dosage of Marley Updates

I just got a message from my sister asking "And where is my weekly dosage of Marley updates?"

I feel bad that I am late posting again...

I have lots of lame excuses.

One of our computers crashed, thanks to my stupidity of carrying it in the same bag as a full baby bottle. This computer happens to be the one I use the most and now I am with out my photoshop and up to date school projects... The past couple of days have been rough.

1) First Halloween

Marley was a pea pod. You think this would be a simple concept for people to understand. But alas Marley was referred to as a "Frog Prince" for most of the night. Yes, people thought she was a boy. I added a big green bow on top before we went out. How could anyone miss that? Girl's are not allowed to wear green I guess.

2) Treats!

We had a ward carnival and when we got home I got all our treats out on the floor. I turned around for a second and little miss Marley had broken through the plastic on one of the cookies. What a sneaky girl!

3) Winter Gear

It was cold last week so we bought Marley a winter suit. I didn't like the emblem on the front so I sewed on some green hearts to match her cute hat. Marley did not appreciate my hard work.

I love this picture below!

4) Puppy Playdate

Our friends Alanna and Joe got a puppy over the summer. Of course we had to have a playdate. Arby and Marley had so much fun together. (I told you Marley loves dogs.) We need to have another playdate soon.

5) Marley's First Real Hairbrush

I had to buy Marley a real hairbrush yesterday.

I don't even use a hairbrush myself. My hair is so thin and it gets frizzy if I brush it. I've always just combed it with my fingers. But Marley needed something to handle her thick mane yet smooth out the bed head. Now her lovely locks are under control... Most of the time.

Have a great week!

Looking Back

I've been looking back at posts from when Marley was first born and I came across this picture.

Can't wait till I do that again. (Sarcasm)

But she was worth it.

Videos Galore!

Another beginning to another week. Can you believe Halloween is almost here? I need to fix Marley's costume. I don't even know what I'm gong to be. Ryan and I have been slammed with school. In fact, I should be doing homework but I'm blogging instead. :) Lucky You. It's another Lucky Monday.

Here are my favorite moments from the past week.

1) Marley loves the IPhone.

I got an application called "Peek A Boo". It starts out with a smiley face and you touch it and a picture of an animal pops up making the animal sound, and then it starts all over again. It has kept Marley busy. She loves it.

2) The Ukelele

Ryan and I play guitar and Marley always want to play with us. So she plays the Ukelele. She knows how to hold it and pluck the strings. She wouldn't do it for the camera but soon she'll be a ukelele master.

3) Instead of Napping

I've mentioned before how Marley loves books. Well, I keep a board book in her crib because sometimes she lays down and flipping through it helps her sleep. This last week Marley has not been napping and looking through this book instead. I lay her down she looks like she is about to fall asleep and when I walk out, and come back to check on her she is sitting up reading/looking through the book. Little stinker. Also she is really good at standing up now and swear she says "Hi". Do you hear it?

4) My Journal

I discovered my Journal from college today. It also includes entries from when I first met Ryan. It has been really fun to read. There was one entry where one of my roommates was about to get married. I was wondering alot about who I would marry and when. Little did I know I would meet him 4 months later. I can't believe there was so much I had forgotten. I was running 5 miles everyday back then. I had a goal chart I would cross off everyday. Ummm.... What happened? :) So I'm going to start running again, setting goals and keeping a journal. Yep I will. Wish me luck.

Last Week...

The original title for the post was "AHHH! I'm late!" and some people thought I was pregnant. I am not. I was late at posting my Monday Update. I'll be careful what I write on this blog. :)

The highlights of this past week are:

1) Pumpkin Festival Farm Town Adventure Wonderland

I'm not exactly sure what the place was called but you get the idea.

There were hayrides, farm animals, craft booths, pumpkin carving contests, huge HUGE pumpkins and FACE PAINTING!

Best part: Grandpa, Grandma, Cousin Hunter and Aunt Deedra all joined us.

Worst part: I did not have my camera (But I did have my phone).

2) Baby Bedroom facelift

I saw this ball bouquet at a Down East Home Store and made Ryan buy it.

Which inspired me to make these Jungle Animal Silhouettes. I got the idea from here. It cost me about $5 to make each one. Love them!

Please excuse Marley's cram packed bed. She plays with her stuff animals as she falls asleep and she sleeps on top of a comforter (it makes the bad softer) and has a blanket on top of her. So high maintenance.
